An Interview with Associate Director Luke Harding
Our people make waltonwagner the company it is and it’s their expertise and enthusiasm that makes us stand out from the rest. Find out more about our team by reading their personal responses to our six quick-fire questions. Be warned, the answers may surprise you!
Question 1: What do you enjoy most about working in London?
The people, they are hilarious!
Question 2: What is your favourite restaurant and why?
Currently, The Pear Tree Café in Battersea Park, they only open as a restaurant at night, which means you have to walk through the park, after dark! But it is impressive, in terms of the location, the building, the service and importantly the food.
Question 3: Tell us about your favourite buildings in the world.
Well, I have a few:
Senate House, London, great building, art deco, neat and stately, looks like it should be in Manhattan, and they should definitely put a bar in there that sells Singapore Slings and saucers of Champagne.
The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, Lisbon, concrete, glass, lots of light and cheap to get into, reminds me of an overgrown municipal library from the 60s!
Exeter Cathedral, Exeter, a proper cathedral, medieval and huge, but beautiful, incredibly light, because of the yellowish Beer stone used to build ‘her’ and the long arched windows, – has a great feeling inside unlike Notre Dame which is dark and creepy.
Question 4: Tell us one thing about working at waltonwagner that you enjoy?
The opportunity to implement ideas. At waltonwagner if you have an idea and are willing to implement it – you go and do it, that’s unusual and exciting.
Question 5: What is the most memorable moment of your life?
One of the most memorable moments in my life was when I had the opportunity whilst in Mexico, to swim with the largest fish on the planet – the Whale shark. Despite being nearly 12.5m long they’re gentle giants and it was amazing to be able to swim along side them.
Question 6: Tell us three things we may not know about you.
1) My middle name is John.
2) I have 2 elder brothers.
3) I used to box.
