Desert Island Discs with Associate Director Luke Harding

Desert Island Discs with Associate Director Luke HardingNext up in our Desert Island Discs blog series – where we asked each member of the waltonwagner team to choose eight recordings, a book and a luxury item that they would take with them if they were to be cast away on a desert island – we are joined by Associate Director Luke Harding. Read on to find out what tracks Luke would pick, and what his chosen items would be.

You can bring 8 of your favourite songs to the island – which ones would you pick?

1. Run Through the Jungle – Creedence Clearwater Revival.
2. Dixit Dominus – Handel.
3. Má Vlast Vltava – Smetana.
4. Musica Notturna delle Strade di Madrid – Bocchierini.
5. The Cave – Mumford and Sons.
6. Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way – Waylon Jennings.
7. I’ll Fly Away – Gillian Welch & Alison Krauss.
8. Black Betty – Ram Jam.

You can bring one book (to accompany the Bible or another religious work, and the complete works of Shakespeare, which you automatically get) – which book would you bring with you?

Going Solo by Roald Dahl.

You can have one luxury item (it has to be inanimate and can’t help you escape the island or allow communication from outside) – what item would you pick and why?

My Kent, hand-sawn, mock tortoise, size 82T, folding comb – it would be irritating having hair in your face all the time, probably with bits of foliage, sea salt, sand and drift wood stuck in there as well.

If you would like to find out more about Luke, take a look at his bio in the Team section of our website or read our interview with him. To find our what records the rest of our team would bring to the island, keep your eyes on the website.
