Paradise Gardens wins two RIBA Awards

A scheme waltonwagner project managed and advised on has scooped a prestigious RIBA London Award 2017 and RIBA Nwalton wagner paradise gardensational Award 2017. Situated between vibrant Kings Street and Ravenscourt Park, the luxury townhouse development Paradise Gardens was commended by judges for overcoming extremely tight site constraints to produce an exquisitely detailed project with a very high build quality. Other challenges included managing the 25+ owners of adjoining properties, which required delicate negotiations from the WW team.

Providing a potential benchmark for similar development across the city, the spatially generous properties with light-filled interiors use simple manipulation of form, robust materials and sensitive boundary treatment, with landscaping and communal gardens designed by Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medal Winner, Christopher Bradley-Hole. Other notable features include terraces detailed in brick with zinc roofs, aluminium frames colour-matched to blend with the surroundings and lime-mortar on the brickwork to give the contemporary homes a soft, textured look sympathetic to traditional construction materials. Parking bays laid in Porphyry setts help to demarcate entrances and provide seamless transitions between the paths and parking.

Development Manager Luke Harding said: “We’re delighted this project has been recognised as an example of London’s best architecture. It’s an extremely well-built development which promises occupants a unique, spacious home.” Paradise Gardens has also been shortlisted for an NLA Award for making a positive contribution to its surroundings and life in the capital.
